Subwoofer Help!

Recommended Posts

Has anyone used or have experience with Hifonics Brutus DVC4 12 inch subs? Well, They claim to have 600RMS but they seem cheezy built. I have 2 in my wife car with a cheap Crunch P1500.1. The guy that sold it to me at the store lied and said it was 1500 watts rms into 1-ohm!!! Found out it was only 750!! Can these things really handle that much power?

If thats the square Brutus', I was looking at them b/c I wanted to do square subs & they would match my amps. After some reserch I found alot of people complianed that the surround tends to tear in the corners. Thats why I decided to go w/ L7's.

if those subs are 600watts rms and the amp only puts out 750 watts rms then theres no need to worry cuz the amp is only gonna give the subs 375 watts each (375x2=750) so no need 2 worry about overpowering those subs

the only person i wouldnt let build my box would be Ray.

That's the problem that plagues just about all square subs. L5's and L7's had that problem, don't know if that's been fixed yet.

I really appreciate all the input fellas, but what i was really asking was, can these subs really handle the rated 600 watts rms because they are really light in weight and kind of cheezy built. These are not the square ones but the round B12's.

if they use the same motor as the previous years they are decently beefy, 180 oz motor i believe. And as anyone knows the motor size doesn't solely dictate output or power handling. A friend of mine ran autotek mean machines and they took a lil over rated power just fine. A lot of people trash talk hifonics but a lot of their stuff is good bang for the buck

I appreciate the input, cause like i say, they do seem cheezy built, but with this Crunch amp, they do get boomy but, I was looking for a lil more out of them, especially since Im running only 375 watts to each sub and they are rated at 600 each. What do you think?
