moh.vze.com
I'm thinking about fixing the stock alarm of my 1999 XLe toyota camry v6 (The alarm use to work fine but now I hear nothing. Not even a 'beep-beep" when I lock my doors. The alarm speaker siren thing doesn't seem to work. I did some googling and this is what I've found: http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2232456 www.floydbell.comi believe our camrys are the M80 series. After getting the new speakers(it does ship very fast). You can either replace it by yourself or with a techy. The speakers for your chirper is located by the driver side, ALL the way on the back close to the firewall. It should look like a little cylinder device hanging out wrapped with some foam materials. After that it will be ALIVE again! So, I went on that site and went here: http://www.floydbell.com/products/series/m80.php How do I know which one to buy? Is it really only ~10$ for an alarm? Why is it so cheap? What are my choices as far as replacing this alarm for my stock camry go? Do I have to stick with these models or are there better ones? ptcary
Those are just piezo mini sirens, and Toyota has a contract with Floyd Bell. Yes you can use any 12v piezo siren. I use one on my Viper alarm, in addition to a regular siren and factory alarm horn: http://www.floydbell.com/products/specifications/UC-09-515-W Any of them that is a continuous tone will work for you, just pick one that you like the sound of, and check the output in db, some are louder than others.
