Strain On Alternator

Which puts more of a strain on alt. Pros and cons of extra battery or cap. I never plan on playing my system with the car off. Just trying to keep my voltage up. Big Three with Kicker Pkd1 coming monday. Stinger Voltmeter coming soon. 2001 Tahoe 2 Kicker Cvr's Dvc 4ohm wired down to 1 ohm Us Amps 4000 Xt and Crunch 1400 4 channel.

Battery all the way. Caps are useless unless you have 0 voltage drop.

Well to answer the question, a battery would put more 'stress' on the alternator. Don't even bother buying a capacitor. A battery is the better choice.

And before you go worrying about the alt, each battery only draws like 2A or something. One extra battery won't be detrimental to your charging effectiveness.

That is unless you are pulling alot of current and draining the batterys and the alternator cant recharge both the batterys quick enough, which leads to premature failure of the alternator. But in the OP's case I dont think he will have a problem with the current draw of his system draining the batterys like that, so he will be fine with an additional battery.

And dont buy a capacitor, they really only make a slight difference on systems with like 750rms or less, anything bigger look at doing the big3,H.O. alternator, and extra batterys(IMO in that order).
