basshead4life Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 My dad gave me a 160 amp alternator off a boat. they just upped to a 200 and were gonna throw the 160 away there was nothing wrong with it when they took it off but they just wanted bigger. i just dont know how to make it work. its internally regulated. but theres 4 bolt on connections on the back. 1- GND: its obvious 2- BAT: also obvious 3- I: i think it means indicator 4- R: i have no clue heres some pics any help will be apprciated. side view rear view Team S.M.D. Maritime Car Audio- (2) 18" SSA ZCON D1 - American Bass 500.1 - 60 ft of 3/0 -480 Ah of battery - (2) stock alternators (70 +90) - Kenwood Excelon x-794, 4v preouts car audio is just a LOT more complicated than "this amp does this power" or "this sub will be this loud". its like 2 + 2 = banana. If it's internally regulated the the pins on the plug should provide power to all the internals and the only thing you would need is ground/battery connection I have 0 experience with boat alternators though so I don't think I'll help much.
