Ported Box, Forward Firing

It seems the general consensus is that if you're going to run a large ported box in a sedan, the ideal placement is with the box about 6" away from the end of the trunk with the subs firing towards the tail lights. Apparently, with the subs firing towards the tail lights, the subs load off that hard surface and the waves are more in phase than in other placements. I don't have the luxury of having my system take up my whole trunk, so that's not an option. I'm pretty sure i'm going to end up with the box about 6" behind the rear seats with the subs firing into them, which is how my current setup is. I have confirmed that I have some cancellation going on cause when I open the trunk the bass gets noticeably louder.

That being said, couldn't I just put up a "wall" right behind the back seats so that the subs can load off it?

I don't have the facilities to just cut a board and throw it in there for testing purposes, but if that's the way to go then I can make it happen. Let me know.
