ok, I have 2 kicker 12" solo x subs, and the kicker website says for best results in the lows and most power handling I should have each sub in a 6 cubic ft box, so I have my 2 12's in a 12 cubic ft box.

I am running both subs at 2ohms off of a kx2500.1. the amp is 2600wrms at 14.4. so lets say each sub is getting 1200-1300 wrms....

where i am not giving the subs what they recommend, should I make the box smaller due to the lack of power going to the subs??

subs are 2500wrms a piece...

their fine. i dont think the solo x's can handle anything over 2500rms daily iirc.

the smaller the box, the MORE power you will need to get the same output as a bigger box with less power.

here this is from the site and if you use this youll only be underpowering them by a couple hundred watts

3 ft3 (85.0L) + port displacement, Fb=40Hz

Port: 45 in2 (290cm2) area x 18.75” (47.6cm) long

Power Handling = 1400W Peak

Maritime Car Audio- (2) 18" SSA ZCON D1

- American Bass 500.1

- 60 ft of 3/0

-480 Ah of battery

- (2) stock alternators (70 +90)

- Kenwood Excelon x-794, 4v preouts

car audio is just a LOT more complicated than "this amp does this power" or "this sub will be this loud". its like 2 + 2 = banana. (if that confuses you then you get the point) lol

now, I was thinking about doing that....but would 1 sub at 1ohm with 2600wrms be louder(higher spl) than 2 subs at 2ohm with 1200-1300 each...???...

it would be pretty much the same loudness wise. since your halfing the cone area but doubling the power.

can a solo x even take 2500rms daily?
