basshead4life Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 ive got a kenwood kac x1r at a 1 ohm load and i was wondering what i should set for the upper and lower cutoffs right now its 15hz and 200 hz and when i play C&S songs my subs get a little smelly. and my box is tuned at 28hz if it helps any. Team S.M.D. Maritime Car Audio- (2) 18" SSA ZCON D1 - American Bass 500.1 - 60 ft of 3/0 -480 Ah of battery - (2) stock alternators (70 +90) - Kenwood Excelon x-794, 4v preouts car audio is just a LOT more complicated than "this amp does this power" or "this sub will be this loud". its like 2 + 2 = banana. (if that confuses you then you get the point) lol

basshead4life Posted June 27, 2009 Author Report Posted June 27, 2009 the more voltage your car can produce, the more output for the amp. set the gains for your amp by following that giant picture.that amp is super inefficient at 1 ohm. it does 1200rms at 2 ohms, then like 1000rms at 1 ohm. so says sonicelectronix that doesnt make it inefficient. it just means that it cant handle the amps it takes to run 2400watts at 1 ohm. its the same reason that most amps wont run 0.5 ohms. the circuitry will heat up too fast. they will all run 0.5 ohms but only be able to safely push half of the 1 ohm ratings. for example: my amp will only push 500 watts safely at 0.5 ohm or 250 watts at .25 ohm.
