shainemcconnell Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 unfortunately upgrading electrical is never going to get better- its not the cost which is an issue its fitting a bigger alt is impossible, 190 was the biggest i could geti bought a grand cherokee but its diesel and theres nothing available for it, should have just bought the v8 and i,d be laughing but unfortunately not at the pumps (uk fuel prices are not a joke ) but you can always get a little more battery.... Bluebrindle Posted July 3, 2009 Author Report Posted July 3, 2009 Are you sure about that I am sure MechMan or Rob can get you an alt that does about 250-300amps, that would fit. i,m pretty sure. spoke with iraggi and also a guy i know here asked with powermaster as thats his supplier) neither havea n off the shelf option, fitting a larger alt isnt going to happen, theres under 1/2" between the existing alt and engine, the mountings are also not normal so bracket work is basically out of the question. a second one wont fit either as far as we can work out so i,m pretty much stuck with a 190- i guess i could have it re built to a 220 maybe but even that it difficult to get someone to do in the uk. You guys are lucky- cheap gas, lots of alternators , over here its expensive gas and no alternators lol Quote
