BIGMANNYC Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 hello i recently did my first small sound show with my truck : 04 armada with the following setup : jvc detachable 7" dvd player , audiopipe 8v line driver , 2 fi audio 18"s fully loaded dual 2ohms ea in a custom 10 cube ported box facing up port on rear , visonik 4000w amp with a 400a inline fuse for subs , custom doorpanels with 4 eminence pro series 10" midbass powered by a rockford 600w 2 ch amp , 6 x 8" clestion mids powered by a rockford 800a2 2ch amp , 6 x lanzar opti tweets on doors and dash powerede by an old school rockford punch 250 dsm amp , 2 kinetic 3800's batts , 250 a nations alt , 1 odd wire , 300a fuse underhood with a optima yellowtop , stinger 200a isolator , my problem is after the sound show were it played most of the day with a few breaks in between to cool down in hot sun , it developerd a hum when on idle from sub amp , but goes away when you shut off engine and when u rev past 1k rpm like at 2k or 3k rpm it wont do it , so did i develop a groung loop prob? or maybe a pinched rca wire from from front control unit to sub amp? i was thinking of running a jumper from front unit to sub amp and see if it goes away? any suggestions?.................ps nthe truck was a blast at show ! it really attracted a lot of attention with its ground pounding bass and super clear mids !!! not bad for a first show , things can only get better my friends. steve please help !!!

brewer_brewer Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 if you are picking up engine noise then yes it is a ground problem. wrap some 18 gauge speaker wire around your rcas where they connect at the headunit and then ground those wires somewhere.
