MaXiMa_MaN Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 ok, for now, im working with 2 RF punch stage 2 12's pushed by a kicker 1000w amp... I had it professionally installed and was workin fine for about 3 months... now, the amp wasnt receiving power at all so i sent it in for repairs and they sent it back saying that it tested fine... so they walked me through and told me to check my wire connections (it was professionally installed) so i knew that wasnt the problem.... then, i spliced the remote lead wire and sent half back to the remote lead terminal, and the other half into the 12v power terminal, and it was on and giving sound, but the subs frequently cut in and out and the amp lights fade when the bass hits and the speakers cut out... then, the ppl told me that it was the remote wire since it did that... well, today i just bought a new remote wire and installed it the SAME way that it was previously installed and its doin the exact same thing.... and i figured id rather ask around and get help before dishin out extra cash if its somethin simple that i cud fix myself.... lol
Neel Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 post up some pics. If it was installed by a local shop, why dont you just drop by and tell em to take a look at it for you? Do you have a volt meter? Kinda sounds like your ground might be bad. This should be really simple to diagnose , all an amp needs to turn on is power , ground and a remote. So if you suspect your remote wire is bad, just unhook it from the amp, and then take a small wire from the positive input on the amp and put it in the remote line input. By doing this you will be making your amp turn on and stay on 24/7 , so just use this as a diagnostic test. If the amp turns on and the speakers and what not work great, then you know the amp is fine and your remote lead from the back of your head unit or whatever is messed up. If it does the same thing, then you know the remote lead is not to blame. Make sure your positive wire is still securely fastened at the battery terminal and that the fuse / fuse block still look great and are tight! Then look at the ground, Follow the wire from the amp to wherever they decided to ground it to, make sure it is tight and making solid contact with a bare metal area of your car. Report back your findings and post up pics! Too Much Stuff to list .

Report back your findings and post up pics! okay ill post pix tomorrow whenever i wake up... its 2:45 am here now lol but ya its not the remote wire because i went to buy a new one today and its still the same thing.... and i would have them look at it... but they are all about $$$ and i dont wanna spend 50 bucks for them to tell me somethin that i coulda fixed myself.. but yea ill definately check the ground wire too because a specialist at another speaker store told me that could be it... but i wanted more opinions just to be sure..
