Ended up finishing the code late last night , was just hoping to have someone look over my inheritance / loop issues quickly and give me some insight when i was on a time crunch. work + school = zombie mode for me...

I need to make a very simple hangman game and it is due tomorrow night. It needs to be in three classes, one dictionary class that stores all the words, one hangman class that draws the actually hangman figure and i think actually has the game code in it, Then one last code called hangmantest that will be the actual application that runs. Not a whole lot in car stereo that can't be explained with some simple physics!

Copper bus bars are used in industrial applications all the time without issue, a good amount of spl/sq competitors including myself have used copper bus bars and copper terminals in their cars for years. Lets be honest here, there is nothing in car stereo that requires you to get down to the efficiency of the conductors you are using (as long as we are talking about respectable conductors,not copper clad junk). Oh and don't forget that copper has less resistance then gold when looking at the gold plated connectors! The wiring in car stereo is extremely simple even in huge SPL cars like Meade's Tahoe, the only calculations needed to wire the car correctly can be done by any high school kid that has taken a intro to physics class. Here is an excerpt from an articles that Stephen Mantz wrote a while back that I think summarizes the difference's in materials very simply. Material Resistance in Ohms/metre Silver 0.003068 Copper 0.003246 Gold 0.003705 Aluminum 0.00533 Brass 0.013 Iron 0.0188 Platinum 0.0188 Lead 0.0412 "The table shows that silver and copper are so close to each other that the difference is negligible but the cost of silver is a lot higher than copper. In a car system the longest speaker cable length is maybe 5 metres. So if we use #10 copper wire the resistance is 0.03246 ohms per leg for a total resistance of 0.0649 ohms. Let as assume we are using a 500 watt amplifier to drive a 4 ohm speaker. The RMS current is 11.18 amps and the peak is 15.8 amps. Using Ohm’s Law the volt drop over the length of this cable is 0.0649 x 11.18 = 0.71552 volts RMS or 1.02 volts peak. Assuming the amplifier was playing at maximum power (an impossibility of course since we cannot average 500 watts from a 500 watt amplifier but let us be ridiculous and say we can) then the volt drop of about 1 volt as compared to 44.72v (500w with 4 ohms) is a drop of 13 watts or 1.22dB. Of course this does not occur in practice and a realistic number due to a crest factor of 10dB is an average of 50 watts per channel. The RMS current is 3.5 amps and peak is 5 amps. Use welding cable lugs, nice solid copper lugs is all you need, make sure you solder them. There is no need to waste money on car audio brand lugs, basically more money and inferior product (what else is new?)

Alright well I am originally from socal and have been primarily hitting up all the SQ shows but I guess its time to do the whole school deal so now im up north trying to get my degree. everything treo listed, but also what are your crossover points at on all drivers? Raise crossover points on the speakers and lower the crossover points on the sub, see if that helps you.

Best Buy no longer carries rockford fosgate, they dropped fosgate and picked up kicker. Everything is the same in best buy as any local shop.

That's good to hear man, SQ is really where the fun starts happening in car stereo. From my experience it is much harder to build a decent sq car then it is to build a decent spl car. Instead of just getting your subs real loud, you have to ensure that everything is tonally balanced, in phase (acoustically, not just electrically) and it has to stage well. SQ cars can get very loud, but instead of focusing on just lower frequencies they reproduce MUSIC from 20hz-20khz up to 120-130+db! You can still have fun and be loud, good sq cars are designed to be able to play at realistic live listening levels. Now hit up the shows and compete both in SPL and SQ!

I know Toyota will figure it out and get everything back to normal, I have faith in a company that has built a handful of amazingly reliable cars in the past years. My family has had a few Toyota's in the past including a few Camry's , a Corolla and a RAV4 .. never had any major issues with them. I just hope the brake issue is not some crazy electrical fault and simply a quick fix.... The CEO of Apple would manage to lose control of his hybrid...fag.

Get your hands on the IASCA CD , it has a track that has three people talking at the left , center and right of your sound stage. They start off talking separately and then at the end combine and all speak together. Its also got a lot of different good songs to help you tune your system...I don't even know what the stuff people are posting above me have to do with sq.

Dont blame the sub , blame the box , amp , install , lack of processing and tuning , etc. Your sub is not the weak link in your system , take the time to make it work instead of complaining that its sound quality is not what you wanted. A speaker will only sound as good as the enclosure and room that it is in.

Remove the battery , and never put an unsealed , unsecured battery in your car ever again. If you don't know how to install a safe system in your car , don't do it at all.

Yes , its very easy. Basically your OS disc does not have the sata drivers needed to install XP. If you had the original gateway discs you could easily install it without any problems. So heres how you fix it... Go to gateways website and download the correct sata driver for your laptop and put it on a floppy disc (yes a floppy disc!) I am assuming your laptop does not have a floppy disc drive so you will need to find a USB floppy drive to plug in. So put the floppy disc in the drive then plug it into your laptop. Now start installing the OS and when at the bottom it says “Press F6 if you need to install a third party SCSI or RAID driver…” press F6 and then go from there, if you have downloaded the correct driver from gateway it will work. You will now be able to complete your windows installation. Its really easy , be patient and keep us updated

Keep in mind you will need to reload your operating system as well as any drivers and applications. I have actually had clients call me telling me their computer wont work anymore after they replaced there hard drive. So make sure you have your recovery discs ready.
