Blazer + 4 Fi BTL 18s= FUN!!!

Recommended Posts

Well i have some down time seeing that I'm not working right now and I'm waiting for my amp and wire. I decided to finally fix my alt setup. I made the bracket out of bed frame lol so it wasn't the best it could be. So I figured I'd redo it. I found a place In town that sells all kinds of aluminum so I got some 1/4 angle aluminum. This is my old bracket..

Sweet. you know if you used smaller pulleys on your alts you would get better output at idle

Just measure your crank. You want it around 18k RPM at max rpm, so you divide the alt pully size into the crank size and multiply that by the max RPM of the motor.

He needs to measure his crank, it's not worth taking someones truck as an example and then finding out for some reason your crank is bigger or smaller. Smaller is no big deal (output will just drop), but bigger means you can blow up your alts (the rotor will explode).

For example does irragi,DCpower,or mechman use different size pulleys on the same alternator for different cars? when i ordered my amputators they came with the same undersized pulleys regardless. I get were your coming from though :good:

DC Power and Mechman do not use the same pulley, Iraggi on the other hand... Well mine were doing around 30k RPM until I measured the crank and figured that out for myself. I made the mistake of trusting Dom to do the math, but he didn't so I blew 2 alts (when I say blew, I should say EXPLODED, the rotors were practically missing).

That's the only reason I know about it and why I suggest it time and time again, it only take a minute to measure your crank and it's way better than installing, blowing, uninstalling, shipping, waiting, reinstalling to figure it out ;)

In your defense though, a 2" pulley is pretty safe and I would guess his crank is small (unless it's a bigger OEM to "improve performance").
