Sundown : New Amps 2013
UnderLoK replied to sundownz's topic in Sundown Audio - GREAT Amps/Subs! GREAT Customer Service!
I might have to snag a couple 5ks as my 4500s barely fit with like .25" clearance width wise... lol On a side note, I really wish you guys would swap out the .5" coarse thread allens on the sides into the heat sink with some beefier 1" fine thread screws. The current ones seem to back out way too easy. -
Your truck makes the room look small or like it's some kind of trick with a model and a Matchbox Car... lol

This is going to be bad ass IMHO which ever one can demo a low to mid 50 for more than 10, 15, 20 minutes at a time wins (if there is such a thing). That's the point of a demo vehicle anyways right? Play time...

Can you trick an inductive ground pickup?
UnderLoK replied to Amart88's topic in Electrical-battery- Alternators- Wiring
I missed the part where you mentioned you removed the factory ground? Mine has all sorts of crap running to that ground so that might have something to do with it as well. Basically you want everything that grounds to go through that pickup (amp ground and factory ground). If I remember correctly it constantly samples load and adjusts accordingly, but it should only be looking every 30-60 seconds not every second. That makes me think it might have something to do with that factory ground. This is all info I read about the charging system and second hand knowledge from some alt manufacturers and techs I've talked to over the past couple years, I have too many grounds so I was never able to try it myself. -

You want your amp's ground to go through that pickup if you were to "do it right". Outside of that there isn't anything else you can do unless your vehicle is one with an override. Most of the SUVs and trucks (not mine) will leave economy mode and go into charging mode if you manually turn on the lights or on models with a tow button if you hit the tow button. Those are the only two tricks I know of. With these vehicles you really only have a few options. Get AD based alts (which is what the HO alt companies should be suggesting) and deal with the charge warning, go with externally regulated and deal with a charge warning, or get an MLA. For the record I bought an MLA last year, just never got around to putting it in, should have it in next weekend though finally. If I were you and if you don't already have an HO, get an AD based alt instead and just deal with the charge warning on the dash (tell the alt manufacturer what you're doing and they will give you instructions on how to wire it up). In reference to your voltage... It's walking right? By that I mean one minute (it shouldn't be constantly moving every second) it's sitting at 13.2, the next it's at 14.1, then 13.6. then 12.8, and so on? If it's going from 14.2 to 13.3 when you turn it up then it's drop, not the PCM... The alt should still provide amps no matter what the voltage is. I have next to zero drop even when in economy mode (12.8-13.2). -
More than likely because they draw from their front battery?

You fuse to prevent a fire, not to save your amps. Long story short, unless your vehicle is worth less than the cost of a 300a ANL ($0.90) or you don't have the room, fuse it.
-
300 is 2ohm stable, 200 is 1ohm stable... The mod lets you take the 300 down to .5ohm or less, but it's below spec so it could easily blow up. 200a fuse as mentioned is more than enough. Generally speaking the fuse won't save you from blowing up your amp, but it will keep your car from catching on fire. I ran mine around .75 for like 8 years or something. It died when I was getting a jump and the guy on the other car grounded mine out. I swapped it for a 1400.1 I had in the closet and it's been running at .75 since (it was running at .5 prior) so another 5 years give or take. Best I ever saw out of my 300 was just over 1800 at 15.x volts. I'm pretty sure when they came out though they were rated at 1200 not 1400 even though they became 1400 (.5/.1/.2). Could be wrong though...

Grown Man Insurance
UnderLoK replied to UnderLoK's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
It's not to prevent them from getting their share, it's to prevent them from pulling the rug out and you are out of the house without a pot to piss in. I've seen it happens to friends and family in the past. Basically it's possible for everything to get frozen. If and or when that happens if you have both your names on everything you are left with what you have in your pocket. Say you just got paid and it's direct deposit, you're out until next pay day assuming they can change it fast enough. This is just insurance against the worse case scenario where you find yourself without a place to stay and no money. Most of us have friends or family that can help, but I for one do not like asking anyone for help especially in an event where I could have prevented it. The sad truth is most people just don't think about it. -
I’ve seen a couple few posts lately of guys getting totally screwed over by their woman and just wanted to take a minute to point something out to you guys (I guess the ladies too as it could go both ways). Always have an emergency fund that only you know the details about. Sure emergency money is important, but this fund should be enough cash to get you through a few weeks after your shit winds up on the lawn (if you direct deposit and are locked out of the bank you might need longer) and NEVER touched especially when times get tough because the odds of you getting the boot go up. When I was getting married I told my soon to be wife that I had money stashed on the side (I don’t keep secrets from her) that she can’t see or touch in the event she screws me over. Her immediate response was “You really think I would do something like that to you?!” and my response was “yes”… I know what you’re thinking “oh man I bet she was pissed fuck that, that’s too much hassle”, but it’s worth it. Basically the explanation breaks down like this, while she might never toss me out in the street and shut off every CC and the like, I could potentially do something stupid enough to make her go that far. An hour or a couple days of arguing about it is a price well worth it if you do ever find yourself pulling up to your house and your shit is on the lawn, your cards are shut off, and your locked out of your bank accounts. I have a private account with a big bank which has no paperwork that comes to the house, no checks, no nothing. It’s in my name and she has no access nor does she even know which bank it’s with. I also have some in cash stashed as well (again nothing major, but enough). Guys I’m telling you, don’t get caught with your pants down (funny expression for this conversation I guess lol). Your wife can literally tear you down to NOTHING in minutes with only a few phone calls and remember to look out for numero uno because when push comes to shove she can completely ruin you if you aren't prepared. Don't think that I'm saying "if you're a cheater you better be ready", because I'm not as that isn't my style, but... That's the whole thing, the "but" as you never truly know what might happen.

Haircuts.....
UnderLoK replied to SnowDrifter's topic in Off Topic - Random, Misc posts - the forum "Junk Drawer"
My old one would (same location since the 50's and they have 8 barbers w/ strait razor skills even), they do mostly 12-20's and while most of the guys are old, they know the drill (some old school cuts are complicated) and there are a couple younger chicks anyways. Oh did I mention it's $7? Now I got to a girl friends basement... Screw waiting in line. I was waiting for one of these to pop up haha We have a couple here, hell one is like a bar too... Not the greatest idea for people driving, but it is MI.
