FiBTLforlife Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 well i decided its time to actually get some reading from the amp and see what is going on with power and what im really throwing at the AQ subs. so this is what i got, and just want anyone who has done this to let me know if i did it right or wrong. thats the only way to learn this stuff, ok here we go my idle voltage is 13.7 after a 40hz burp, voltage is 11.9 (at max output) put clamp meter on sub wires, 60.7volt output the amp draw from 1/0 wire was 7.3 amps at 40hz 13.1 amp draw threw sub wire Quote 2 AQ 10'' HDC3 copper subs 1 3500d AQ amp 146.3db on TL with stock electrical in single cab truck at 32hz RESULT: 1st place at comp, 3rd overall out of 20 cars

loburbon Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 to properly measure the output you need to different meters. a dmm set on voltage with the positve and negative leads hooked into the speaker outputs of the amp. then you put the clamp meter around the positive speaker output. then burp it. get me those numbers done that way and i'll figure it out for you. Boon Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 The input measurement is pointless. It's an AC clamp meter, and your amp doesn't receive AC, it only outputs it. Was it a True RMS clamp meter? If not divide that number by the square root of 2. Quote 10.x volts fo' life!
