Old Skool Fosgate 1500.1bd cutting out

I'm a big fan of Stinger and Darvex is a great company to deal with and their wire is close to 50% cheaper than trying to get it local where I live.

Link to 0 gauge wire:

Main page- http://www.darvex.com/0_gauge_power_wire.html

The colors I use:

Power- http://www.darvex.com/SHW10B/Stinger+0+Gau...Power+Wire.html

Ground- http://www.darvex.com/SHW10G/Stinger+0+Gau...Power+Wire.html

You will want to use this same size wire to do the big 3 and I recommend I think I used 3/4in loom for in the engine compartment.(I can't remember if its 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch for 0/1 gauge.

Loom: http://www.darvex.com/split_loom.html

You need a grommet for the firewall. One of these 2 will work:

http://www.darvex.com/PG34/0+Gauge+Pro+Grommet.html

push through gromment and what most people use as long as there are no water issues:

http://www.darvex.com/BSB34/0+Gauge+Snap+Bushing.html

If you are running more than one amp you will need a distrobution block. I'm going to let you pick out what type of distribution set up you want but I am going to show you what type of fuse you need for the BD1500. Just make sure you can get 1 0/1 gauge input and 1 or more 4 gauge outputs depending on how many different amps you have.

http://www.darvex.com/SPF82/Stinger+Gold+P...+ANL+Fuses.html

Remember 150 amp fuse at the BD1500 and a 200 amp to 250 amp fuse at the battery depending how many amps you have.

I forgot to tell you SMD members get a discount if we order from Darvex and I think its 5% off. You have to type something in the coupon box.

I forget what it is but if you ask Darvex they will tell you what the code is.

Heres the Big3

I highly recommend this battery and I recommend buying from this company:

http://www.darvex.com/SP1000/Stinger+1000+...ll+Battery.html

I have used this battery in acouple of my personal vehicles and have been incredibly satisfied.

Check this out while I find you more info.

I cant get the where its grounded its behind the wall i had them install to mount my amps! Thanks for all your help im going to talk to the guys at the shop about rewiring the car! The only problem i see with that bat. is my car has side post! Or do you mean use that as a second bat.? Thanks Again For The Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I only have you half of the way there but its enough for a start.

If you have 2 amps close to each other I like these:

http://www.darvex.com/SPD8210/Stinger+Dual...Fuseholder.html

Run your large main power wire in and get 2 ANL fused 4 gauge outputs.

The smallest ANL fuse you can get is a 60 amp and up to 300 amp but you only need a 150 amp ANL for the BD1500. I don't know what you need for the other amp.

I hoped I helped you some and remember that too small of a power wire has the potential to catch on fire and that is why its so important to get the propper size wire and connectors.

Before you ask when you do the Big 3 and you should use 0/1 gauge wire, fuse the wire comming from the altenator to the battery as close to the battery as possible in fact you could probably use this item at the battery too.

http://www.darvex.com/SPD8210/Stinger+Dual...Fuseholder.html

Use the 300 amp fuse going to the Alt and a 200 or 250 amp fuse to the wire going to where ever you amps are.

Don't leave me yet as I deal with GM side mount post too and can give you some ideas. If you were closer I would just help you and usaully people here are more willing to help.

Hold on for a minute and lucky for us GM side post guys it doesn't cost us as much.

This is my build and all power wire is 0/1 gauge. Yes the battery is a Power master but I had the Stinger SP1000 in there for along time and also had the same Stinger battery in my Honda, infact I'm not sure if I'm happy with my Power master battery or its my new high output alt but I didn't like the voltage drops I had after I made my changes so I still stand by my Stinger SP1000.

Look at the top of page 5 to see how I did the GM stye hook ups while I do 1 more post with what parts to order and I'll hang around for alittle bit incase you have some questions.

This should take you to the top of page 5.

Use these on the battery:

http://www.darvex.com/SPT55303/Stinger+Sid...+Terminals.html

Then use these for 2 0/1 power, one comming from the Alt to the battery and the second terminal for the 0/1 going out to the back or to where ever you will distribute your power for the amps.

Don't forget to fuse within 12 inches from the battery on both positive wires, the one comming from the Alt and the one leaving the battery.

I preffer 2 of these.

http://www.darvex.com/SPD82/Stinger+Gold+ANL+Fuseholder.html

They are cheaper than what I'm useing and I feel that they are built much better. I'm not satisfied with the 2 fuse holders you see in my battery compartment.

Also do this on the negative too. One 0/1 comming from the Alt and the second output to send a negative(ground wire) to the most beneficial place to ground to.

http://www.darvex.com/SHT303/Stinger+HPM+B...y+Terminal.html

I'm sorry but they stopped carring the less expensive double 0/1 gauge terminals that you see in my truck.

EDIT: in refference to this statement:

One negative 0/1 comming from the Alt and the second output to send a 0/1gauge negative(ground wire) to the most beneficial place to ground to.

What I did in my truck was to look at what my amps were going to ground to. In my case the floor under the bench seat. Well the floor under the bench seat is welded to the firewall, so in theory the firewall and floor is almost the same piece of metal and I'm trying to get the best current flow from the negative from my amp to the battery.

I ran a 3 foot negative run of 0/1 gauge from the battery to my firewall which should make all the sheat metal of the cab section of the truck grounded better and the amps ground attaches to that same piece of sheat metal so in theory I have optimized the best ground circuit to get the best current flow from the negative of the amp back to the negative terminal on the battery and gives me very low voltage loss verse grounding my battery to the frame of the vehicle.

Man if you can do the Big 3 useing 1/0 gauge wire and get the Stinger SP1000 battery that might hold you over for awhile but I don't condone it.

Not looking at length 4 gauge has a potential of 150 amps and 0/1 gauge has the potential of 300 amps.

How long is the run of 4 gauge in your car?

How well they ground the amp its self is a huge deal or a really, really, really, big deal.

Like I said change your starter battery out first and replace it with the Stinger SP1000 and do the Big 3 and that 4 gauge going from the battery to the amps might work for awhile.Don't forget that 150 amp fuse ASAP.

When you get that done use a DC volt meter and put it on the positive and negative terminals on your BD1500 and see what your voltage is.

My rule of thumb is 13 volts, if your dropping below 13 volts then you need to get the 0/1 gauge ran from the battery to your amps.

Good luck man

Ill tlk with the guy from dedicated custom auto (witch i should have just takin to to in the first place) and start doing the little things first! I could do it myself but its a northstar caddi and the last thing i want to do is mess something up =(! Its a 96 deville and the power wire runs to the cap in the truck so it has a long way to go =/! The problem with just checking the grounds is that there ran behind the amp wall! I might just be looking at rewiring and upgrading my bat.!!! Save money in the long run! Im only 17, my moms gonna be pissed when she finds out how much its gonna cost lol =D! But shes got a system too so she know its gotta be perfect lol!
