i need some help

well i got a set of mtx audio thunder 8000 15's from a friend for a killer price, one subs tinsle was broke and i knowed that, well i soildered it back n it worked fine, well i was wangin alone goin to get a pizza n on my way home it wasnt as loud, n i think my tinsle came loose again

1) is there a way to permantly attach a tinsle back better that soildering?

2)can i recone my subs to somethin else

3)i kno its now blown cause there 1000w subs gettin a good clean 400rms and the sub doesnt scrach, i can press on it n i guess the tinsle attaches itself back n it plays a lil bit

and 4) this is why i wanna build a new box, i hate takein my seats out, amps out, battery out, speakers out, just to get this damn sub box out

so anyone kno how to go about doin this?

ima call mtx tommrow n see if they have anymore recones layin around or spare parts i can get for these

the subs were reconed again from mtx befor he got em n one set of tinsles are bare n otheres are like wire comein out of sub

i cant take pics yet, it take about 4hrs to take em out, seats, then amps, then battery, then rear speakers, then 8's, then box, kinda why im goin another route with it this go around, it should be louder upfireing ported than downfire sealed, but befor it stopped it was wangin like a muthafuka

n i tryed to soilder it the best i could, ima call mtx tommrow n see if they can recone em or fix it or somethin, im wondering if they could recone em with 8500's or somethin, or redo em with woven tinsles, i kno the vc's are good,but how air tight my box is my subs dont move much anyways when i push on em

hopefully this weekend i can work on it, n i might just run my 5500 1544's but that will throw up another question

will 2 300rms subs handle 500rms? they did befor n damn nere got louder than the 8000's n sounded better but im goin ported, i might take my box out n run one 5500 15 in that box mtx recomends n see how it pans out, if it sounds good im goin that route

but i really want these in my system, they hit lows like a loose rubberband

well i called mtx today n they said there all out of the mtx 8000 line of everything, but said i could send em in for exchange but the thing is

i can trade em in for another set of 5500 1544's so i can run 4 15's

or keep my mtx 8000's n try n find another set, i seen some on iwanna

i unhooked one of the 8000's n just runnin one now n it sounds good for just one 15 on about 600rms

No. You couldn't get a new spider on without removing the cone... and aligning the former would be a pretty god-awful exercise.

I'd send them in and get the exchange while it's still on offer...

so 4 15's @ 2ohm on 800 w should be louder than what i got, but it took me 2yrs to aggervation to get these 15's n for a $300 set of subs n $90 box for $60, im gunna keep em, i can fix it no prob, ima try n take it out tommrow
