robFI18 Posted August 22, 2009 Report Posted August 22, 2009 I just ordered a fi btl 18 and i am going to try and build a ported box prob around 8 cu ft and the port at 150 sq in. Am i going in the right direction? and can anyone help with a design, pics? im a little lost on how to build the port so tips or anything would help ALOT! THANKS
1992Chevy K1500 Posted August 22, 2009 Report Posted August 22, 2009 I don't know what Fi recommends, but a general rule of thumb is 12-16 sq. inches of port per cube. Unless the manufacturer recommends something different, this whould be followed for the best sound. 150 sq. inches of port for an 8 cubic foot box is too much. See if you can find what Fi recommends and use that. My comp setup (Not bad for what it is): HP Compaq Presario V6120US laptop with: 15.4" widescreen AMD Turion 64 X2 1.6GHz processor 2x1GB stick DDR2 SDRAM (667 Mhz) Seagate Momentus 500GB SATA HDD 128MB shared video memory Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit 12 cell Lithium Ion battery (actual battery usage time: 6 hours) What it does: On a USB 2.0 Wireless card
iTech Posted August 22, 2009 Report Posted August 22, 2009 150 Sq. In. is too much. I would use around ~112 sq. in. My Official Feedback Thread PSN - tech2332 Games for PS3: Killzone 2, BattleField: Bad Company 2! Add me to play either!
robFI18 Posted August 22, 2009 Author Report Posted August 22, 2009 WOW so for my 18 btl going with 8 cu. ft and 112 sq in of port is ok? How would i make the port? If i am putting the port on the same side as the sub should it go to the back of the box and then half way up the back? Thanks for all the help!! its all new to me so all the help is great!!!
1992Chevy K1500 Posted August 22, 2009 Report Posted August 22, 2009 There are some people on here who do box design. I think some charge and some do it for free. Look around and see if you can find anyone (it's usually in their sig). Boon Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 Erm... These are things you should really know... a 18" BTL isn't really a beginners sub... 10.x volts fo' life!
Guest Posted August 23, 2009 Report Posted August 23, 2009 i dunno why people buy expensive things then they try to figure out what theyre gonna do with it later. just my opinion but if you need help, get a design from one of the members on here
