Very odd remote turn on problem HELP!

Recommended Posts

I know when i installed mine in the burban i had the same problem ,after checking into it there is the power antenna (wrong wire) and the remote wire i had the power antenna hooked up and it would turn the amp on in radio mode but shutoff on ipod or cd mode. my hu is the alpine cda 9886 i know this doesnt help with your headlights on off thing wonder if you hooked up the remote wire to your illumination lead behind the hu on the factory harness this would be my bet. :fool: also might i ad when i bought the truck it had a pioneer dvd9 hu in it that had no faceplate and when i bought the new unit to install i found that the moron that installed the previous unit cut the factory harness off and wired it up so i had a huge mess to figure out junk yard FTW!!!

dude you need to not be cheap go buy the harness you need its like 15 dollars. wire the other one back up than wire the new harness to the radio and plug up. you got some wire somewhere mixed up in your wires.

Every time I have seen someone hack off their factory harness (at least once a week while I was at Best Buy) they would cut so close to the harness you could never hook it back up. You can get a reverse harness and hook it up, but they are color coded with the standard aftermarket radio colors, so if you wired the HU wrong, you will probably wire the reverse harness wrong. Plus a reverse harness costs as much as a normal harness so you are now paying $40 instead of $20.... Just use the wiring list off the12volt ^i linked it above^ and make sure your connections are good... Check everything with a meter first. if that doesn't work and everything metered properly then your HU is broken.

CAUTION!

POOR INSTALLATION MAY SHORT BOTH YOUR SYSTEM AND WALLET

Hmm good point. I think you may be right about the remote turn on/illumination wire. My headlight switch also turns on the dash and interior lights. I am going to recheck everything. I have the wiring diagram for the hu and for my trucks factory radio. I will make sure it is matched up.
