bennett15 Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 So i moved all my audio gear to a 98 durango these last 2 days and got everything done today. Go and hook up my ipod with a special cored for the deck and all i get is the bass notes no words or mids/highs So i think to my self ipod cord is ruined somewhere? Radio works fine sub plays and so do mids and highs. So i get thinking and try out a movie in my flip out panasonic and get only bass notes? try a ipod jack ipod cable out of an Av slot of my deck and still only bass notes? So basically the only time i get everything to work is when im using the radio function. Any ideas why this is happening. All speakers are wired correctly if it helps the durango has the Amplified stock infinity system already so i just combined the remote for that and the remote from my amp and hooked it the the harness which worked fine in my 95 Ram which had the same stock system. 98 Dodge Durango 12 000K 50/55W Headlights 12 000K 35W Fog lights HU Panasonic CQ-VX100 7" Reciever (1) Fi SSD 18" Fully Loaded (1) Ported box 33hz (1) Soundstream TRX1500D (1) Soundstream TRX2.440 (1) RE 6.5" Component Set (1) Rear battery Big 3 in 0/1 gauge 2 runs of 1/0 Gauge wire 250A Alt soon..

1992Chevy K1500 Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Check the EQ on the Ipod. Also play something through the headphones and see if you hear anything. HaMSaMMiCH Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 The durango probably has a factory amplified system. I will bet dollars to doughnuts that you have the power antenna wire hooked up to the factory amp turn on wire in the harness. Pull the radio out, unhook power antenna wire and splice in remote. let me know if that works. CAUTION! POOR INSTALLATION MAY SHORT BOTH YOUR SYSTEM AND WALLET

I put a pioneer deck in my girfriends 03 durango R/T, i had it all hooked up & i decided to try it before I put the dash together & same thing, everything worked with the radio but on a cd or ipod the 15's were playing but the mids/highs wernt. I didnt realize the infinity system had an external amp, so after a call to crutchfield (@like 10 pm customer service ftw) the guy told me that you have to use the blue remote wire lead off the trucks harness to turn on the factory amp, he also told me that nowhere in there tech pages does it say anything about it so people call with the same question al the time.
