Amp placement

Are there any disadvantages to placing an amp closer to the battery rather than the subs? I've been told and have seen examples of longer power and ground wires taking away from a amp's performance because of the added resistance?...my real question is whether the length of the speaker wire does this as well? :unknw: Thanks in advance.

Unless its real long you probably wont notice a difference(if you use the proper guage for the length ran).

Also if I am worried about the power run not suppling the power I need, I would either up the wire, add a battery to the trunk or both.

Cool, thanks for the advice/answer to my question...reason I asked was I was short a few feet on the power wire on my mids and highs amp and had to make up the distance with the speaker wire.

Technically you're better to have the amp right beside the battery and some long-ass speaker wire

High current low voltage vs low current high voltage...
