okay the box i have now is about 5 cubes tuned at 36. its subs up port back in my sedan with about 4-5 inches from top of box to trunk lid. i was wondering if it to be louder to make a box, that would basicly be a wall in the trunk goind fom floor to top of trunk. i know theres no way to tell but just generally or if someone has done this. i would like some input before i build it.

Maritime Car Audio- (2) 18" SSA ZCON D1

- American Bass 500.1

- 60 ft of 3/0

-480 Ah of battery

- (2) stock alternators (70 +90)

- Kenwood Excelon x-794, 4v preouts

car audio is just a LOT more complicated than "this amp does this power" or "this sub will be this loud". its like 2 + 2 = banana. (if that confuses you then you get the point) lol

If you can fit them, I would put the subs and port on the front firing into the cabin sealed off from the trunk. There are a few SPL trunkers doing this and doing well!

One example - http://audioforum.termpro.com/topic/40/23754/12.html#000283

yeah sorry for not being clear but yeah it will be subs/port forward i was just wondering if its louder

All the cars like yours/mine I have tried several ways and all forward and sealed off has been the best for spl and over all sound. However if your in a situation where you can't seal it off then subs back port to the side has worked, although I can't see anyone not being able to seal them off from the trunk.

by seal off do you mean just make sure no air goes behind the box and into the trunk? because i can do that
