DArnoldNJ Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 First off i just want to know if anyone has done this and had success. I noticed one guy is running a DAT 1000.1 and doing pretty well. I have a 13W7 and im running a rockford p1000bd. The subs wired to 3ohms currently. Im finally getting a ported box built and the guy told me to paralel the coils and the sub should be good? zfrerichs Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 you have 2 options......the P10001bd is a mono block with a 2 channel input set up that paralleles itself internallywire 1 coil per "channel" and it will parallel itself down to 1.5 ohm OR (the easier way) you can just take say "channel A" and run a wire from the amps positive to positive then negative of amp to negative..then jump the positive to the other positive and the negative to the other negative simple as that you lose power by doing that probably not on this set up but on bigger ones you would. Chode69 Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 you lose power by doing that probably not on this set up but on bidder ones you would. yea i just deleted that...for some reason i had in my head it was a dual 3 ohm not dual 1.5 (major brain fart) he can do it but it will take him down to a .75 ohm load which that amp and sub both wont like...(but i highly dotn recommend) unless he can find an amp that can run 1k at .75 ohm hes SOL (well like he said that DAT would be nice) maybe more power than he needs. but thats when tuning comes into play. i ran finksters Dat 10001 at .5 ohm and she ran fine... raytard Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 just looka t something like a jbl gto14001or pdx1000 or sundown 1200 that will do the power you need at 3 ohms....honestly while an amp may work fine at .75, its a whole lot more stress than necessary, a lot of effeciency loss, and being run a lot closer to the edge, where all it would take is a little inexperience to push it over. DArnoldNJ Posted September 24, 2009 Author Report Posted September 24, 2009 Thanks alot guys, i think i might actually just run the amp the way it is now. It pounds pretty hard with the sub at 3ohms and the amp being 1ohm stable. Im not sure what the power translates to or i could just find a Jl 1000 but they are so damn expensive. But thanks alot when im done with the build ill post the pics. 2000 Mercedes ML 55 Amg Panasonic Double-Din JL 13.5 W7 sealed box Rockford P10001bd(PEQ Bass Knob) Mb Quart DSH 216 Components(Fronts) Mb Quart DSG 213 Coax(Rear) Jl 300/4(HIGHS)
