bassboombottom Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 Considering a new alternator, and I want to do it right the first time. I called DC a week ago, haven't heard anything since. Okay, they are very busy people, I'll give them that. I called Ohio alts today, and got told what not to do, not to do the big 3, or use 1/0 from the alt to battery, since I "don't compete" or whatever. I told him that I might get a bigger amp for my subs. and he said something about needing 70 amps for every 1000 watts, or something. He was very patient with me. My engine compartment is VERY cramped, and I had gotten told that in order to get to the alternator, I would have to take off the A/C pump, then the radiator. I don't know ANYTHING about mechanics, and if someone here is familiar with Jeeps, please inform me what all to do, or what is the best way to get to the alt. I will have cash later, but I just want a quote, and a good idea what I can and can't do with my alt. Like if I can use 1/0 from the + from the alt to the + of the battery(ies). Thanks. 8v fury said:
