protocaster69 Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 I have a mid 80s toyota truck with an alternator that has an external voltage regulator... I have an alternator from a BMW 535I (100+ amps ~twice stock alt size) It has an internal voltage regulator and doesn't have a place for a harness plug... Just 2 positive out posts. Will not having the harness plugged into the alternator cause my truck not to run? (I'm thinking it only has to do with the voltage reg. If it will cause it not to run could I get some suggestions on how to fix it? I'm thinkin' about just running the stock alt. on the stock system and the extra alt on my audio/air stuff... Are there any drawbacks to this?
