Possible Electrical System Upgrade...

Well, I want to upgrade my electrical system in my Avalanche... Other then my stereo I'll be installing, i have A LOT of emergency equipment and lighting. and It takes it's toll on my stock set-up. I don't need anyting huge, like multiple 200+ alts and numerous batteries... I just need something a little bigger...All I have now is the stock 105 amp GM alt, and an optima Yellow-Top... My upgrade might be a two stage process, depending on how well the first stage goes.

Stage #1:

What I'd like to do is get 2 GM 160 amp alts, a dual alt bracket from Dom @ Iraggi, and get an MLA module. And run that to my Yellow-top...

Stage #2:

And depending if I need/want more power, I would add a second battery...

I'm thinkin just the dual alts will serve my purpose. Just wondering on your guys thought/opinions.

I'm also thinking about the "Big 3" upgrade as well. But I've heard mixed stories about it. Some say that it doesn't do anything for your electrical, and some say it does... *shrug*

the BIG III is an A+ for electrical..why do you think car audio ppls and competitors do it??..to get every single volt thats possible..

but other than that adding batts would help!

i would do the 2 alts and 2 batts... less strain if everything is going all at once... do the big 3 also... if it were me doing this for one of my friends... i would make them buy 4 batts 2 up front and 2 at the amps... consider that a long term goal

i also just got approval do redo a local fire houses truck... 270 amp alt and and 3 blue top batteries... truck has LED strobe bar... led strobes in grill head lights tail lights side windows basically immagine the ultimate wacker mobile.... plus its got the charging stations for portables and flashlights..

Go ahead and do the big three, add the alt and an extra battery all at one time. Better to have more than enough power than anything
