im also only 17 with a part time job. unless im planning on selling one of my nuts im going to have to stay with 2 18's at the most i also still need SOME trunk space which is why i want the wall

It's gonna cost more than just 2 18's, a box, amplifier, and wiring.

Can you back up 5,000 watts RMS? Because I'll tell you now that you need more than an amp to produce that much power for 2 BTL's

Edit: I thought the point of a wall is to maximize all the airspace possible throughout the whole truck. Not just a 8" thick box in the middle of the truck.

where is hte 8" thick box comming from? its going to be around 1 1/2 feet thick. i can afford 2 btl's and all the stuff for them...4 is just way to much. my dad was also admitted to the er lastnight so money is probably going to be tight anyways. it might just end up being two bl's on 2000rms...

Do the box however you want to! Don't let people discourage you from doing it your way! If you want to do 2 18's in a wall than that should be fine.

Walls take up more room so if your idea is to save cargo space, maybe rethink your idea.

even if the wall is 1 1/2 ft thick there is still a decent amount of space.

If your talking about walling behind the front seats then i think you could get maximum space for 2 18's and still have the back for stuff but if you wanna keep that second row then i dont think it will fit.

Basically a wall is just a big box stood up. The big thing to think about is bracing. Ive see a lot of people use 2 bys or some heavy duty type all thread. anyways good luck man ill be watching for sure.

i think i just gave myself a concussion i facepalmed so hard.

and for the 1's that dont like me.....

well, Im still here fuckers. Cant get rid of me that easy.

Any thicker would probably be too much airspace (If it is at maximum height and width - I estimated and found out it wouldn't really be that thick). The point of a wall is to take up as much space as possible except for the driver and passenger seat.(As HHR ed showed^^) Doing 2 18's walled in a SUV is as useless as 2 8's walled in a Civic in my opinion. You say you don't really have money so just stick with 2 18's in a regular ported box.

If you want more space for cargo then take out the rear passenger seats and place the box or cargo there.

Are you planning on just building a box and sliding it it, or building a real wall like what I have pictured?

What I mean by real wall is permanently secured and actually built as a part of the interior of the car.

Generally, walls have to be larger in volume than their cargo area enclosure counterparts. And they have to be much stronger. 2 layers of 3/4" MDF or more are just about a requirement. And they have to be very well sealed around the edges as not to allow airflow around them.

I would suggest selling your 12s to put in for the 18s.

Just running 18s would sound better and can get louder, and would be easier to install.

yeah its going to be built into the truck, but its not going to need as much space as yours takes up
