Question About Amp To Backup Battery

Recommended Posts

In my car i have a kinetik hc800 running in parallel with the battery up front. it is fused of course within 18" of each battery. Now, the question is... Do I have to fuse the amp from the battery in the back? Right now I have a 250 amp fuse within 18" of the kinetik to the amplifier. and i was wondering if it is even necessary to have that there? or could i just take the fuse out? the fuses on the amp total 140 amps.. could running a 250 amp fuse 12" or less near the amp harm it in any way?

18's in a wall to come....Its not all about the posts....check the member #...

Fuses will NEVER hurt anything. All they do is control the amount of current. If a certain amount is delivered, the fuse blows and shuts down the hot wire. It won't hurt the amp. And yes, you should have a fuse within 18" of any hot wire coming off any battery.
