83Maro Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 ok so i going to end up getting a cavalier and putting in a 12 fi btl with a 2500 amp from rockford knowing i need to do another battery in the back for more power what else would i need to do? oh yea idk if the counts but i putting in my eclipse head unit from the maro into the cavalier to.. i can get a link of the head unit i have if it helps at all and the second one is i got a 83 camaro going to be building a 383 engine for it.. would having like two stock or 150 amp alternators work? for the same set up ( 12 fi btl 2500 watt amp and another batter) plus would you need capacitors to?
white4d96 Posted November 9, 2009 Report Posted November 9, 2009 No caps for sure. I would say it depends on the alts. For sure do the big 3 on both cars and one or two runs of 1/0 to the back. You may be able to get away with stock alt but I'm not 100%. You may want to do two or even three rear batts? Don't quote me. Too many projects, too little time...

I think I heard a rule of thumb was to look at the amp-hours of the batt (A/H) and get 100AH for every 1000 RMS watts. And caps really don't do anything for voltage drop, they can actually make it worse. Too many projects, too little time...
