davewms9605
Ok, income tax is just around the corner and new money will be coming in!! After alot of research and blowing up a pair of RE subs im turning to FI!! I am very interested in two of the FI Q12 D1 subs. Cant afford the BTL's!! Anyway, the site suggests a ported box tuned to 32 hz and 2.5 cubes per sub. I am trying to use the RE calculator for 2 subs so i can get the cut sheet and build the box. How do i calculate? I also dont understand the square port part. IThe box is going in an 86 Monte Carlo SS and i have about 40"Wx19"DX17"H to work with. Oh, the amp will be an AQ2200D Edited November 21, 2009 by davewms9605 Quote Current Setup: Sony CDX-7401UI 2- 12" Alpine TypeR DVC2ohm Subs Custom ported box 4-American Bass 6.5in SQ-6B Mids 4-Pioneer TS-T15 Tweeters 2-Crunch P1500.1 Mono Amps 2-runs 1/0 GA KnuKonceptz KnuKonceptz RCA's 1-Stinger SPV44 Battery Coming soon: 250 Amp Alt Custom Door Panels Second Skin Sound Deadner All in my 1986 Monte Carlo SS!!! davewms9605
Im trying to figure out how to get the best box i need to match the recommended tuning for the Fi Q 12,s and im stuck on the part that says "12-16 inches of port per cubic feet of volume" How do i calculate all that to get the right measurements of the box. davewms9605
Ok, look guys, all im trying to do is find out the correct way to get the right box dimensions. If someone can show me how to do it, great. If someone can design a box for me, even better! Again, im just trying to have a foundation to get started on something new! I want alot of bass but all i can afford is 2- Fi Q12's. I looked at the AQ's but figured the Fi's would be better. Also, the amp i want to push them with is a AQ2200 Quote Current Setup: Sony CDX-7401UI 2- 12" Alpine TypeR DVC2ohm Subs Custom ported box 4-American Bass 6.5in SQ-6B Mids 4-Pioneer TS-T15 Tweeters 2-Crunch P1500.1 Mono Amps 2-runs 1/0 GA KnuKonceptz KnuKonceptz RCA's 1-Stinger SPV44 Battery Coming soon: 250 Amp Alt Custom Door Panels Second Skin Sound Deadner All in my 1986 Monte Carlo SS!!! Guest
take the square port area and divide it by the cubic feet of the box (ft3). and it should be between 12 and 16. if its under 12, make the width of the port bigger, if over 16, do the opposite

hotshot27
after bracing and the space the sub take up, you are looking from 4.5-5.0 cubes. depends what kind of bracing you use, i personally like wooden dowel rods.
