finkster Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 i second this. another battery would only add an extra 10 amps of a load to the alt. Quote DAT 4125------>RE XXX comps active Eclipse cd7000 I serve drunks for a living
jrplayer36 Posted November 25, 2009 Author Report Posted November 25, 2009 If your alt doesn't have an overdrive pulley, you might want to check one out.It did come with a overdrive pulley. My truck idles low at 500 to 600 rpm. Quote jrplayer36
Iraggi Alternator Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 I was wondering if its normal for my volt to drop to 12.9 and goes back up? The only time it does this is when truck is at idle or at night with lights on. I have a 220 amp. Iam running a MB Quart 1000.1 and a kicker 650.4 and 2 12's. Any idea I would check and see what pulley is on the alt. I personally use a slight overdrive pulley.. a little less than 2" Quote
Iraggi Alternator Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 I would check is there is a lot of charging current going on from batteries needing to be charged. Quote

jrplayer36 Posted November 28, 2009 Author Report Posted November 28, 2009 I also have a problem when sitting at a place with truck in drive it seems to drop down 2 13.1 and goes back up and then down etc. And the only thing on is the heat. Plus when starting the truck up in the mornig the alt makes a noise but it only does it once in awhile and when it does its only for a slpit sec. Quote jrplayer36
Guest DC Power Kyle Posted November 28, 2009 Report Posted November 28, 2009 Does it sound like a squeel? if so your belt is loose and you need go tighten it. You may get out of the high 12s if you tighten that belt. Quote
