smullen Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 The power to cost ratio on the Hifonics is pretty well. ive had alot of experience with their amps and ive never been disappointed. I've mixed feelings on this... I too have been a Hifonics fans since before alot of folks on these forums were old enough to drive.... Seems they are not consistant with their rating and quality. 1st 10 years or so, really rock solid build, Under rated on the power... Then they sold out a few times I think and its been kinda back and forth every few years or from Generation to Generation... I bought six of the BX1500Ds and I did not have any issues with mine, but everyone else seems to think they were junk... I'm still a fan and will give them look when considering an amp... I gotta admidt I've never seen one fry, lose a channel, or really have anything go wrong with them.. I fact I've seen them pretty abused... None (well most) of my friends ever do what I call or would think of as a decent quality install... They just throw the stuff in the trunk, backseat, Floorboard, where ever it'll fit and roll it... My one friend Tom, had a Buick Regal with like 3 Hifonics amps 1 4ch and two Boltars (you know that was old) pushing 4 10 or 12" Kicker Comps... The box was sitting on the back seat, amps on the floor... This was back durring the flood of 93 I think it was... We were driving though a flooded parking lot down at the river (casue we were idiots)... The water was so deep, you could stick your hand out the door and smack the water... I was sittin shotgun and getting kinda nervous... Then I noticed water commin at the bottom of the door/door jams... Tom was laughing till I look back and said, dude the AMPs are getting wet... Damn thing was sittin in water... I reached behind the seats and picked the two Boltars up and they were still working, water draining out and everything... I told him to turn it off... We went home, pulled them out, let'em dry out for about a week or so... Plugged them in, No worky... Put them back on his dresser waited like antoher two weeks, they musta dried out and worked just fine.... WOW, I aint thought about those in 10 years...
