rival904 Posted January 9, 2010 Report Share Posted January 9, 2010 rival,Efficiency "ratings" are a bit of BS any way you slice it... it's going to vary dramatically based on the vehicle, setup, frequency, etc. The design of the 4500D was for very high efficiency... hence 8 power supply transformers to spread the load out. Same reason the 3500D went to four transformers vs. two in the 3000D. I'm sure you will see some comparative tests soon enough. I understand this, but lets say you had a big enough battery bank to keep a solid voltage with one of these, you still wouldnt be able to figure the amp draw by the amp output? On a 60hz note. You can get an estimate by looking @ the max current draw of 500 amps (on a 12v system) and multiplying by the % of full output you are seeking. So... for 2500 watts assume around 250 amps. If you simply want to know what electrical to use we have recommendations on the site.
