Phase knob

I have a SAZ-1000d and it has a phase knob. I don't know exactly what it does. It would make sense that with the phase knob turned to 180 degrees, the sub would act as if the + and - cables were switched. I'm pretty sure it doesn't do that though... So what does it actually do? Is it more of a phase shift? But that would have to be dependent on time, or somehow be able to detect the frequencies playing to correctly shift them between 0 and 180 degrees. I do know it seems like my bass might be a little quieter when turned to 180, but it also sounds like it blends better with the front speakers, so I keep it at that.

Pretty sure how you described is correct.. It switches the polarity for say if you have your sub inverted, instead of switching the + and - at the amp you can just turn phase to 180.

from what i heard, you can use the phase knob to adjust where you want the bass to "come from". instead of having the bass seem like its coming from behind you, you can turn the knob to make it seem like the sub is right where your sitting...idk how to describe it...or describe what ive read

I've read that too, but I don't know how. It would have to be some type of time delay...

And 95_100, I don't think it does that, although it would make more sense if it did. I have mine set at 180, but I'm pretty sure the sub still goes out when a kick drum hits, which means it hasn't inverted the polarity.

Yeahh thats what i think, because i have a phase shifter and i have it around 180 and it feels like the bass is right there beside me

For a bass drum "hit" the sub moves ~40-50 times per second -- you can't tell if it moves forward or back first with your eye

The phase knob at 180 is indeed equal to reversing the wires.

The sound is delayed by 90 degrees... the same effect that a 6 dB passive crossover network would have on the phase angle.

Most likely you will never need the phase knob.
