Problem with kinetik 1800

I just bought this kinetik 1800 off my friend that has had it for about 2 months of it sitting around, it worked perfect in his old car on his old system but when i try charging it, it doesnt charge, i had it on the charger all day today off and on, longest i put it on for was 2 hours and it didnt move, tried a few different things also, i hooked it up under the hood, lights came on when door opened, everything powered on when motor was off, but i tried starting the car, just clicked, it didnt even try starting. Then i put it on the charger for about 30 more minutes, and took it out and hooked it up in the rear where the yellow top was, started my car up, drove around and noticed a huge difference in voltage dropping when playing, it was dropping down to 13.4 and on idle with the music 1/4 turned up it would be at 13.6-13.8, usually the lowest it goes with the yellow top is down to 13.8 and thats rare, it usually stays at 13.9-14.1. So i kno the battery isnt working correctly. Anybody have any ideas? This battery would really help me with some power but its not working at all. The charger i have works fine because i just charged the battery on my moms car up the other day, and i threw the yellow top on it, and itstantly it said charged. WTF?

Straight from Kinetiks site just showing which charger to use and which to not use, you may have used the wrong type, idk. You didn't say which kind.

If you are charging with an automotive type charger, always use chargers that are "voltage regulated, two stage, automatic or microprocessor controlled". Do not use chargers that only have amp settings such as 2, 5 or 10 amp settings that do not regulate voltage. These chargers increase in voltage as the battery or power cell charges, leading to an over voltage situation that will ruin the cells.

Why didn't you check the battery before you bought you? I know it's your friend and all, but I still would've.. You said it was sitting for 2 months and he used it in his old car, is it still under warranty? If so you could go to an authorized kinetik dealer, or call kinetik and see if y'all can work something out with the warranty, that is if it's still active.

hook up a DMM and what does it read?

if anything put it on a slow charge ( like 2-5 amps ) for a while and see if you can get it to hold a charge. and i say a while as in mabey a couple days.. its a slow sharge so you shoudl just hook it up and let it sit and go about yrou buisness for the day. then each day unplug the charger get a volt reading then let ti sit for an horu or so and test it again and see what it goes down to... if it goes down to your original voltage that you get when you test it before you hook up the charger. battery is pooched

Well I mean if you put it in the car in the back as the second battery and it was still not charging, it's not your charger, it's the battery itself. Just re-read your OP, did you ride around not playing music at all first? If not, you could try that, hook the kinetik up into the back as the 2nd battery, and ride around for about 30 minutes or so with the H/U off. When you're done, turn the car off and re-check the voltage on the second battery.
