ESN and Multiple Owners..

got this in a trade.. it was completely legal and i have all the misc. parts that comes with it to prove it wasnt just ripped out of a car..

anyway i went to a local audio shop to find the reverse harness and they told me it would be $90 cause theyd have to order it.. i dont really want to take the gamble seeing as I DONT KNOW if the esn is activated.. help? ideas? money is kind of tight right now and now im riding around with no tunes and a fancy paper weight..

if you got it in a completely legit trade....how come you dont know if the ESN is activated?

i got the deck from the original owners father.. the kid died when he wrecked his car and the deck was pulled from the car and put on the shelf for some years... i emailed him about the getting the code or the cd but he hasnt yet replied.

i have this microphone for the sound alignment.. the original Eclipse usb card reader.. what looks like the original jacket.. the original remote.. and some little seperate box thats attatched by wire to the back... everything that came in the box besides paper work..

okay good news! the guy finally got back to me.. looks like it might work out but im not getting my hopes up just yet.. i think well both have to get in touch with eclipse over the matter.. keep you guys posted..

i guess i had to learn about this the hard way. :unsure:

all of the esn units ive had have pulled from cars miltiple times with no problems and have never been asked for codes

i just didnt have a way of knowing.. didnt want to spend $90 on the reverse harness just to find out id received a locked deck.. you know?

like i said im not sure whats going to happen yet.. ill update as it unfolds

All you have to do is call eclipse they will contact the registered owner to verify the sale and then you pay $25 to have it registered in your name. Its simple.

thanks for all the fast responses guys.. the guy im dealing with really doesnt seem to know whats going and to be honest neither do it.. it was a craigslist trade, we had never exchanged numbers and he wasnt responding to my emails at the time.. i started to panic thinking i had been sold a bunk deck and the dude was going to dissapear (it happens).. Are the guys over at eclipse really anal about this stuff? or should it go off with out a hitch?

if i wouldve known you can just order the harness for 10 bucks off ebay i wouldve never even made this post.. random car audio shops ++FTL

my deck has the ESN feature but it is not activated.. or so i hope.. well see when the harness comes
