Battery Terminals

Recommended Posts

Alright so soon im gonna be doing the big three upgrade i already have all the parts but i have a question, i currently bought a set of these http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_16878_...302+-Gold-.html (Don't worry i didn't pay that much) but im kinda concerned because i will have to cut off my stock gm side battery posts, Will doing so backfire on me, like the cr won't start or anything? I ALso have a set of these http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_16815_...r+SPT85309.html but to get the old post off i would have to cut through the stock terminal rubber protective part. So im just kinda curious if it will be 100% safe, and problem free if i install the whole new side terminals (1st choice). Any suggestions, sorry about all the questions

gm's dont have posts . those are meant to screw right into the side of the battery and create a post. at least thats how mine is.

Just curious why would you have to cut through the rubber on the stock side post wires? Are they messed up? All you do is take the stock side post terminal off, pull the wires off of that terminal and put them on the new stinger post with the screw in it. Im currently using 4 of those sidepost terminals

I dont see how you plan to use the first terminals you posted... The GM side post adapters screw into the battery holding the stock GM wires like usual. Then the screw in the end of that terminal is used to connect new wires..

i just used a ring terminal and used the factory wiring and bolt to hold it to the battery. i looked into the stinger post extenders. they didnt fit my battery for some reason so i did it with out them. there not nessacary. remember you dont need to replace the wires altogether to do the big 3, electircity will natuyrally take the easiest path (along the larger wire)

on the stock wire it's a short screw that goes right into my bad, i can barely get my amplifier power fit there, so i wanted to take off the stock terminals, the screw, rubber and all and recrimp the wires and use the newer stinger terminals, that already has holes to put the bigger 1/0 for the big 3

naw im not replacing the wires in just adding the bigger wires, i just can't get the bigger wire terminals to fit inbetween the bolt and batt, and i've tried the extenders they dont fit my stock bolt

yes that would be fine, you take all of the wires that go onto the + battery post and put them into one of the openings on the stinger post, then run 1/0 from there to alternator

yes thats what your supode to do. as long as you keep all of the wires that are there attached to the batteries + post attached you will be fine, there is actually a tutorial in the wiring section about doing the big 3 its a sticky at the top if you have questions it explains it really well
