I have the hifonics brutus bxi2620d,and was playing my music with the volume up to 52, and i heard a pop and smelled smoke from the amp. What would have caused that, My amp was brand new.

need more info, was the volumme cranked or kinda low? what did you ground it to? where is your amp?whats your electrical system like?...

could be voltage drop ?? could be a number of things take your amp out take the casing off and sniff around for burnt smell

No the volume was at 52 for about 5 sec. My amp it on the top of my box. I have the Big 3 with a 220 alt. I had a dealer hook it up.

volume at 52 means nothing, how high does the volume go? what dealer? do you know how threy set the gains? was it with a dmm or oscope or ear? what did they ground it to?

The volume goes to 62. A dealer were i live. They are way down. Ear.To the frame. I meant i have a 220 alt.

im guessing its box vibration that killed it, small chance though.

what was the voltage when it popped? call maxxsonics and tell em what happened.

if they tuned the amp byear you could have clipped it, i kniw you meant you have a 220 amp. which one? who was it made by and how is your voltage? do you lights dim when the bass hits or do you have a voltmeter antwhere in the car?

if a "dealer" installed it it should be under warranty should it not
