Help me decide...

Ok. Right now I have an Eclipse DA6213 running my 15" L7 in 4ohms, and a shitty Pyle 2 channel running my front and rear speakers (front doors and rear deck are 6.5" Menace Audio Mid/vocal speakers, high power Menace audio bullet tweeters in the dash)

I came across a Hifonics Brutus BXI 1210D for $90 still in the box.

So here's my boggle. From the stats I have read, the Eclipse puts out 1000watts rms at 4ohms, but does 500x2 at 2ohms? Does this sound right? To me it doesnt, but every site that has specs on that amp say the same thing.

The Hifonics amp says 1 x 450 W @ 4 Ω, 1 x 900 W @ 2 Ω, 1 x 1200 W @ 1 Ω

Do I buy the Hifonics to use on the L7, and swap the Eclipse to run my other speakers.....

or do I pass on the Hifonics and get a better amp for the vocal/tweets?

I can wire the L7 down to 1ohm, but, is 1200watts too much for an L7? I believe its a 2005 model. From some things I have read, they have a max of 1000watts? that doesn't seem right.

Any and all advice and insight would be greatly appreciated.

If it's the old shiny Eclipse amps, or even the brushed ones, they are freakin' awesome and make close to what they claim. 1000x1 @ 4 correlates perfectly with 500x2 @ 2. That's how bridging works. Twice the power into twice the impedance.

Well I have the Eclipse on the L7 now... Do you think the Hifonics one would be better for the L7 or just keep the Eclipse on there?

And the eclipse one is one of the brushed units.
