infinitecain
ok folks i'm about to embark on my first custom box project and i have two quick questions. what is the best way to join the fiberglass to the MDF? do i have to wrap the fiberglass all the way around and cover the entire MDF board to make sure it is completely air tight and secure? i have to build a box that's 29 ft^3, that would be a sh!t load of glass. my last box was just made with butt joints, glue, internal suports, and wide thread drywall screws every inch. my sub blew it apart so i need it as strong as possible. also, the fiberglass will protrude into the tirewell and 2 side fender wells, will i have problems with the glass vibrating against the sheet metal? should i put a deadening material between them? thanks for any help, ~CAIN~ ~CAIN~ I can't stop buying audio sh!t. Won't somebody help me?
David
no no no. you dont need to do that, just coat the wood with resin, then lay your matting/cloth then saturate with resin, use a roller or stiff brush and make sure there are no bubbles.
