blackrosetiger
i clean my temp files every week with CCleaner and it barely helps. blackrosetiger
Yesterday i had 22gb free space, i just looked and i have 18 now. last week iirc i had about 30 somethingi didnt install any new programs or change anything. what the hell can this be? there is no reason that i know of that causes your computer to eat up hard drive space like this 1.Avast Antivirus Free Edition 2.Malwarebytes Antimalware 3.Spybot S&D 4.Auslogics Disk Defrag 5.CCleaner EDIT: if you use these you shouldn't have a problem 1998 Plymouth Voyager (daily) Jensen VM9213 H.U. Guest
WTF i found the problem. a file in the C:\WINDOWS\Internet Logs section labeled tvDebug, a text document that has the size of, get this. 21.2gb and its growing slowly edit: oh and i cant delete it
Guest
apparently this is caused by zone alarm. "tvDebug is only needed to be remitted to the ZA technical service if you experience issues with the ZA and have filed for help" im gonna reboot into safe mode and try this fix. http://forums.techguy.org/tech-tips-tricks...g-file-how.html

Reallunacy
Well, it could be something like skittlesRgood mentioned, and I would check into it. First though, I would do a couple quick maintenance items if you don't do: 1. In XP go to Run and type in %temp%, Vista type it into the search bar, click anything in that pane, right click and hit delete all. 2. Run Disk Cleanup. 3. Disk Defragmenter (if you never use Defragmenter it will take a long time and will most likely need it a second time. 4. In XP go to Run and type in msconfig, Vista type it into the search bar (you may need to click continue in Vista). Click the Services tab, then check the button in the bottom, "Hide all Microsoft services." Next, click Disable all, after this you can go through them and turn on any you need, however With the rare exception I would leave all off. Click Apply. Now go the Startup tab. Here you can choose to turn off a few although most are fine to leave alone. Click Apply then OK. It will ask you to restart, you can do that whenever you need. (this process is to speed up your comp, normally quite a bit) will i still be able to get to my songs threw i tunes? i quit saving stuff to my c drive, now it goes to my external hd Yes, you can do that although you need to change the location of your library in iTunes itself under, Edit > Preferences > Advanced i got it set to defrag every morning at 3am i think or so and install its own updates, im glad technology came far long enough that u can make a comp keep itself up to date without doing it urself You should not Defrag your comp that often, if you do, it could cause your HDD to fail prematurely since Defrag is hard on it. Every 1-6 months is fine depending on how often you delete stuff.
Guest
wow, went from 20gb to 40gb free space....thats fucking ridiculous. alls i did was delete one file, make a new one and set it to read-only and change zone alarm's debug level to off. hopefully this problem doesnt pop up again.
