Sugjestions for Digital Camera's.

Recommended Posts

I am looking for a 6+ megapixel camera that has good to great video capture aside from the still picture quality for my upcomeing build. Price range will be 300-400. What are your guys sugjestions, and using currently ? I currently have an old kodak that just doesn't cut it anymore.

SUGGESTIONS... Most Canons are good. I have a Nikon but it's already messed up. Sony Cybershot. IDK. Go to BestBuy or Frys and look around.

Yes, Canon is fantastic. I recommend that all day. Go to Best Buy ONLY to look and touch the cameras. Do not buy it there.

Go to http://www.newegg.com and get your camera because they usually sell for $50-100 cheaper than BB AND almost always have a free bundle thrown in, like a case and memory cards.

ALSO, keep this in mind. The price range you are talking about may tempt you to get a low model or used SLR. This could be good for you, but the odds are against it. At your price range you can get a very good point and shoot that EVERY professional photog has in their pocket as a backup for when their SLR fails or the situation calls for it.

If I were you I'd start looking at the canon elph series, or even something like this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16830120381

You are ready to take to the next level, so go 10 megapixels and get all the bells and whistles. I love playing with my Canon and experimenting with all the settings.

[edit] and as an example on the above link, see the bottom green text that says DOLICA 8GBWB10130 2-in-1 Kingston 8GB SDHC Card & Medium Case Bundle Free with purchase!

You click that and add that to your cart, it's all free. There are also good bundles that cost a bit too, but that is what I was talking about.

:)

I have a cybershot h50. For the price, it takes okay pictures, but the video is really.. not that good, especially the mic. Wish I would of done more research before I bought it, there are much better cameras imho. I want to sell it, and get a better one.. but my mom won't let me, and she is the one who bought the camera for me .. so... yeah.

Yes! X2

Forgot about that. Those reviews are super invaluable for this type of thing, I mean.. if you only use cnet for one thing, that is it. The video reviews are especially nice. If you don't see one for your model you can usually find a similar one reviewed in painstaking detail.
