Price range will be 300-400. What are your guys sugjestions, and using currently ? I currently have an old kodak that just doesn't cut it anymore. slugdub Posted March 12, 2010 Report Share Posted March 12, 2010 (edited) Yes, Canon is fantastic. I recommend that all day. Go to Best Buy ONLY to look and touch the cameras. Do not buy it there. Go to http://www.newegg.com and get your camera because they usually sell for $50-100 cheaper than BB AND almost always have a free bundle thrown in, like a case and memory cards. ALSO, keep this in mind. The price range you are talking about may tempt you to get a low model or used SLR. This could be good for you, but the odds are against it. At your price range you can get a very good point and shoot that EVERY professional photog has in their pocket as a backup for when their SLR fails or the situation calls for it. I love playing with my Canon and experimenting with all the settings. For the price, it takes okay pictures, but the video is really.. not that good, especially the mic. Wish I would of done more research before I bought it, there are much better cameras imho. Those reviews are super invaluable for this type of thing, I mean.. if you only use cnet for one thing, that is it. The video reviews are especially nice.
