tweets in a 2002 jeep GC laredo WTF?

ALRIGHT, so heres my problem, im looking to replace my stock speakers due to them one of them blowing, i had the tweets put in when i had my car detailed and i was lazy and dident feel like doing it plus he gave me a deal on the tweets cuz i was having my car and my moms car detailed at the same time so i was like wtf why not, now heres my problem, my passenger side door speaker went out......so does the tweeter( yet i KNOW there brand spankin new), i have no idea what so ever how or why there connected in series like that ( or parallel im really tierd )nor do i have any idea wtf im gunna do once i have to go about rewireing everything, would i need a 6 ch amp to power everything? or would i be able to get my original idea of a 4 channel amp? mind you, i have the infinity gold system stock amp, and i also went and took the blow speaker out and tested the wiring with a walmart brand POS, it works, yet again im confused beause its only a positive and neg., anyone that can help me id be greatly appricated seeing as im newish to this whole audio stuff, which thanks to all you assholes...jk im in love with the stuff, always out and tinkering

Well i feel your pain man, i have an 01 GC with the infinity gold system. I had one tweeter blow and my dad convinced me to get one from mopar and that fuckin thing was like 100 some odd bucks. So once the next one blew, i said fuck it and bought some kappa 3.5's. You have to do some cutting to get it to fit, but what a difference in sound. Then i changed out the rear doors to kappa 6.5's. And about a month ago, i changed out the front doors to kappa 6x9s and man it sounded good. Then about a week ago the front doors gave out. I checked the speakers and they were both fine. The stock infinity gold amp is said to have problems with it. It has an internal crossover that provides the highs up top and the lows out the door. I have heard of many different situations where speakers are cutting out in pairs whether it be one side at a time or a set (e.g. my situation). You can get a replacement amp off of ebay pretty cheap but i just decided that it would be worth it to rewire and get a better quality amp. As far as running 6 channels off a 4 channel amp you could do it like the factory and cross it over or you could wire the speakers in series depending on if you are going to replace to 6x9's. Since mine are 2 way im going to power them with full frequency. Sorry about the rant, but your not alone in this.

Btw if it works with that pos wallmart speaker i would check the ohms on the replacement vs the wallmart speaker. I have a feeling the factory amp is a little succeptable to ohm issues.

its cool man i feel you, but the factory amp itself is 2ohms, i want to ditch that amp get a stoundstream 4ch, BUT where would the tweets come in? i dont wanna buy a cross over set since i already have the tweets nor do i know anything about crossovers, i just want to straight rewire and replace all the speakers, but the tweets is whats confusing me, would i need crossovers inorder to tie the tweets to the speakers? and would i have to buy a set(IE: speaker/crossover/tweets) or can i just buy a random crossover and all will be good? or is there an alternet way of tieing in the tweets that im not thinking about?, and the walmart piece of shit was 4ohms i knew that, hence i only got bass no highs, BLAHH and on top of all this shit, I HAVE FUCKING POSION IVY -.- coooolll story

you can use any crossover, just make sure your final ohm load isnt lower than the soundstream can handle
