JayPhoenix Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 Ok so I have 2 RE Audio 12" SX Series Subs (2Ohm) running at 1 OHM on a US amps XT-4000D and am going from a 4.5ft3 L slot port box to basically 2.5-3ft3 box for each sub through the back of the cab. What I Need to know is whether a L Slot port box is good or if I should attempt something else. I loved the 2 12's in the previous box I build but am cleaning up the interior and getting more leg room so I am revamping. I want it to be as loud if not louder than the last box. Each box is roughly going to be 13-13.5" Tall 20-25" Wide 25-35" Deep so roughly 2.22ft3 to 4.45ft3. Is there a better design to use or is a L Slot suffice? Ebes Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 I have used slot ports in a lot of my boxes and turn out good. A lot of people like aero ports...something i will be testing out in the near future for sure
raytard Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 slot port is fine. aero's have some distinct advantages (less port area needed, less room taken up inside of box allowing it to be smaller with same net/tuning, lower chance for port noise, etc. might be something to look into. 2 3in's or 1 4 would be fine for each sub if you wanted an aero. I am not a blow through guy by any means and my 2 twelves are evil enough for my lack of hearing that I have left lol.
