Blueprint Reading For Machinist

Recommended Posts

I am currently a welder but ive decided to take up machining. I'm trying right now to come in after school for one on one time with the instructor and i want to atleast know how to read the blue prints first, right now i only know the basics. I wont start the official class until next year but i dont like to waste time so if anyone knows a site or can help me in any way, Id really appreciate it!

It's pretty easy brother, i just got done with two machining classes, they're not really that hard to read.

http://members.shaw.ca/planet-e-tech/preview_blueprint.pdf < that will teach you the basics. Good luck! PM me if you need any help

No problem, another tip, when you're actually working a part, know your speeds, feeds, and tolerances. It will come in handy when you go from a roughing cut to a finishing run. Might also read up on the measuring tools. Thats the part i had the most trouble with because they measure down to the .001 of an in/mm. Confusing stuff :good:
