actually i was told the p1222 is overall better than an alpine type r.

the 12" model should even be louder than the 15 type r.

has anyone heard the p1222?

Comparing a 15 to a 12? Come on man.

The alpine should be louder in the proper box.

I have heard quite a few jbl setups from gti to power series. JBL makes solid subs, great sq imo. The only jbl I would bother getting is the GTI. The power series are great for basic setups, hard to beat if you can get a good deal on them.
