A&W ROOTBEER Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 hey guys im going with 2 10'' type R's in a car..car is a 2007 Cadillac cts, im not sure if i should do these sealed or ported, i know 99 out of 100 will say ported..but im going for clean bass..rap wont be the only thing going thru these..will be some rock..songs with fast beats..but id say 80% of the time it will be rap though..im not looking for what they call a fart canon..i would like to get all the sq out of these i can while still giving out good output..so id like your suggestions on sealed or ported and also some specs..not sure how big of a box i should and what to tune it to if going ported?..also what do you guys think of the boxes on sonixelectronix?
chud Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Prefab enclosures are garbage. Type R's would be best suited for a ported enclosure imo. If you're worried about top notch SQ, you need to look elsewhere. If you want to run the subs ported, 2.5 cubes @ 35Hz (for the pair) will do the trick. If you want to run the subs sealed, 1.6 cubes (for the pair) will do the trick. You can't fix stupid
splzx3 Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 http://dcsoundlab.com/ do a ported box around 35-37 hz and it will do rap and rock ________________________________________________________________________ deepsilencer, on 22 Aug 2011 - 17:32, said: splzx3, on 22 Aug 2011 - 17:27, said: i had my fun on one of his videos...till he blocked me then i got my mother into it lol after her he closed the comments xD lol your mom is a G! WTF, I never thought I'd have a conversation about cross dressers and trans-genders on a car audio forum.
chud Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Wouldn't recommending a specific subwoofer be more reasonable? Simply linking DC's website isn't a whole hell of a lot of help... You can't fix stupid

A&W ROOTBEER Posted May 9, 2010 Author Report Posted May 9, 2010 using a 5 channel amp working with 750 watts to subwoofer channel..truck is small to being with so no lvl 4's thats for sure..i dont want to commit the whole trunk to the system..thats why im going with type r 10's..it was between those, 10'' kicker cvx, and 10'' jl 12w3v3's..and i didnt mean top notch sq..i dont plan on taking home 1st place in sq comps..hell it wont ever be in any comps..lol i just mean i dont want it to sound like muddy ass..

chud Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 OP, 750 watts really isn't enough to adequately power a pair of Type R's. The new models are rated for 600 watts rms apiece and last year's models are rated for 500. You can't fix stupid
