A&W ROOTBEER
hey guys, i was playing around with some specs on 12volt and i was looking at the specs for a sealed fi q 15 suggested from 2-2.6 cu ft..i was wondering if there would be issues with having the sub fire up? i will be using sound dampener for the car itself..im thinking of going 2.2-2.3 cu ft? with these specs for box w-26'' h-12'' the sub will be dropped here and mounting depth is 8.5'' on the sub d-17'' thickness 0.75'' this gives me 2.30751 so reason i ask is cause i was told not to have the sub firing up in the trunk of a car..any suggestions on this? car is a 2007 cadillac cts
Alexdb7
People will give you different opinions on this...in my experience having the box right behind the seat facing the back is the loudest/sounds the best. A&W ROOTBEER
yeah im thinking of having the sub face the back of the car, but as far as my box specs go do you guys think this will serve the sub well? should i go bigger, smaller, id like to go no bigger then 2.5 and 80% of the songs will be rap but i dont want it to sound like sweaty ass..lol Edited May 10, 2010 by A&W ROOTBEER
jizazz12
i have had subs in the trunk firing back and firing up, i think that it all depends on the install. both set ups sounded good, just make sure you deaden everything real good as firing either way in the trunk tends to do a lot of rattling. EricR
I had doubts about facing up in the trunk also but the box I just built is that way and sounds good. Just make sure you have 4-6 inches between the trunk and the sub. Deadner is a plus also. Quote i was thinking leave the 12 sitting in the box in the hole and duck tape from the bottom of the sub to the bottom of the baffle so the sub doesnt free air. would that work? keepinitloud
yeah make sure you deaden the whole trunk and lid and you could use the spare tire well to get you the cube you need with out gettin to close to the trunk lid Quote 06 chrysler 300C Hemi one mmatts dreadnaut 15 powered by a planet audio vx 2200d fosgate p200 running planet audio 8" midbass drivers and super compression tweeters stock battery and a stinger spv44 Irragi 300 amp alternator big 3 1/0 http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/55075-system-in-my-300c/page__view__findpost__p__763656__fromsearch__1
A&W ROOTBEER
yeah im hoping the 150 sq ft will be enough for the trunk, the sides, the back part by the license plate, the doors and the roof
