BigRed Posted May 12, 2010 Report Share Posted May 12, 2010 A thousand people have probably already asked this but here it goes: How can I drop a 4ohm sub to a 2ohm without using another sub. Yes i know all about the parallel wiring but the fact is I have one sub end of story lol. Is this even possible? Is there a way I can buy just a 4ohm resistor and parallel that? finkster Posted May 12, 2010 Report Share Posted May 12, 2010 (edited) if its not a dual 4 ohm sub then there is nothing u can do but buy a different sub with the impedance you need, or add another single 4 ohm sub in to the setup...which you said you didnt want to do. oh, there is another option, which is buy an amp that puts ou the power you need at 4 ohms. finkster Posted May 12, 2010 Report Share Posted May 12, 2010 (edited) its just kind of difficult to find a 4 ohm resistor that can handle the power you will be putting through it. Also, you would be not only wasting power from the amp (creating heat), you will also be pulling more current for nothing. EDIT: just dont do it.
