When you burn a tinsel lead, it can cause a lot of damage. If the damage is SOLELY the tinsel and everything else is 100% fine, it's a cheap fix that you could do yourself. EDIT: What the term D-leads is referring to is a direct connect lead. This is usually done with 10 or 8 awg wire and it eliminates the need for terminals...
