Dan208 Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 We\'ve got an older house with an attic fan. The fan has not worked since we moved in about 8 years ago. I\'ve talked about getting it fixed for years, but haven\'t done anything with it so far. Yesterday I got up on a step ladder to test it out and see if there was even any power going to it. I used one of those simple testers with the light that comes on when there\'s power. With the switch in the OFF position the tester light came on. When I flipped it to the ON position, the light went out. So there\'s obviously power still going to it, but why did the light go out when I switched it ON? The switch is not upside down. I\'m assuming the fan is bad since it won\'t turn on.
